Mission
Hope Center of Seattle (HCS) provides the spiritually
wayward unconditional love, hope, healing, support, and freedom of the
Gospel—especially the “least of these,” who are those suffering from
injury from others, bad choices, confusion, hardships, and spiritual
bondages.Description
HCS will be a safe place for individuals to come in for a
cup of coffee and a sandwich, watch an inspiring video, grab a book that
will help them grow emotionally and spiritually, benefit from Godly
counsel, receive testing and information on sexually transmitted diseases
(STDs), obtain guidance about a crisis pregnancy, and get help from a
social worker to obtain housing and medical services. HCC will serve as an
information and support network that helps those who seek counseling,
treatment, after-care, and recovery “maintenance” for bondages like
alcoholism and drug addiction. The Center will also provide free clothing,
blankets, gloves, hats, and sundry items on a limited basis.
HCS will be a lawful and Biblically-based
organization and place committed to treating clients and volunteers with
respect and dignity. It will be mindful of privacy and confidentiality. It
will be a place where gentleness, honesty, repentance, forgiveness,
prayer, encouragement, seeking real answers, patience, safety, and
self-control are commonplace. No person will be judged based on anything
they are doing. All are equally loved and equally important.
Through HCS, we will encourage clients to
learn from the Bible and apply its truths and principles in their lives;
however, we will be mindful that only ultimately God changes minds and
lives. We are there, by faith, to speak the truth in love.
The Center will also have Bible studies,
mini-church services, feeding services, prayer, and meeting rooms
for various area ministries to come together. It will also provide musical
concerts and dramas in its parking lot during the summer months. HCS will
participate with The Hill for Jesus and its various outreach ministries
such as Extreme Saturdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and special
events.
Implementation
HCS will have strict
guidelines, but they will be applied with love and compassion.
Then Center is not a “flop house”—a place of enablement where people
merely sleep off their drugs or alcohol with no intent to get well. Its
purpose is not to be merely a place just to get warm for a few hours or to
get a free sandwich.
HCS is results-oriented and methodical in its
approach. It is a place where people who desire to have a
new beginning in their life can come and experience the love,
truth, and peace of God. It is a place to break free from the craziness of
the pervasive Capitol Hill depravity, dangers, and despair. It is a safe
place to receive counsel and encouragement to make right choices in life.

Who will be allowed access to HCS services?
Anyone will
be allowed access to services regardless of
sex, race, color, age,
national origin, handicap, religion, social status, or sexual orientation.
All of our practices will follow biblical principles.
Some services may be denied to those who violate our
guidelines or whose mental or emotional state may exceed our
capabilities to effectively serve them.
Why HCS?
In the last several months, The Hill for Jesus has come to the realization
that in order for us to be more effective in reaching the Capitol Hill
community for Christ, we need a building, and we need to offer many more
life-changing services to the community. We need to do a better job at
meeting people where they are at in a safe environment conducive to real
change. We need a place that is easily accessible for those we minister to
on a regular basis. We also need more exposure to more than the “least of
these.” The majority of the Capitol Hill neighborhood is comprised
of people other than the severely afflicted.
Another reason for HCS is to provide a meeting
place and a referral center for other ministries. There are several
ministries that come to Capitol Hill to minister. Most of them do not have
a place to meet or pray. In addition, they do not have local contacts for
the people they minister to on a regular basis. Follow-up and discipleship
is critical for the people they lead to Jesus. HCS offers many
opportunities for evangelism and ministry collaboration and unity.
HCS is a fulfillment of many of these needs, and in
the end, the work of Christ gets accomplished. Another of His
neighborhoods gets reclaimed.
